Introduction to “Lean Thinking”
Purpose and target audience
To provide participants with a thorough understanding of the basic principles, concepts and techniques of the “Lean Thinking” approach to process definition and improvement. The course assumes no prior knowledge of the subject and is suitable for the complete beginner. By the end of the course the participants will be equipped to take part in the full range of “Lean” initiatives.
Detailed objectives
To ensure participants,
- understand the basic concepts and principles of “Lean Thinking”
- understand what are the “seven wastes” and how to overcome them
- learn how to conduct a “5S” workshop
- develop a working knowledge of Value Stream Mapping and Process Improvement
- know where to look for further information and learning.

One day.
Materials
Each participant will be provided with a learning pack to support the presentation.
Course structure and approach
The course consists of presentations, discussions and exercises.
Participant numbers
The course can be conducted with any number of participants up to a maximum of sixteen.
