Project Management Fundamentals
Purpose and target audience
To provide participants with a thorough understanding of the basic principles, concepts and techniques of project management. On completion of the course participants will have sufficient knowledge to run simple projects and to participate as an effective team member on larger, more complex projects. The course assumes no prior knowledge of project management and is suitable for the complete beginner.
Detailed objectives
To ensure participants,
- gain a thorough understanding of basic principles, concepts and techniques
- understand project management terms and jargon
- are equipped to play an effective role within projects
- know where to look for further information and learning.
Duration
One or two day options available. The two day course contains more exercises to test understanding and allows a more in-depth examination of each topic.
Materials
Each participant will be provided with a learning pack to support the presentation.
Course structure and approach
The course consists of presentations, discussions and exercises. Topics covered include, “the triple constraints”, project lifecycle, planning and estimating, quality, risk, configuration management and change control, controlling and reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Participant numbers
The course can be conducted with any number of participants up to a maximum of sixteen.
